Agra

Agra is a legacy of the Mughal empire, Agra today is a chaotic, polluted and sprawling industrial city however the romance of the world’s most famous building, the magnificent white marble Taj Mahal, still astonishes with its beauty and perfection. The Mughal emperor Babur established his capital here in 1526, and for the next century Agra witnessed a remarkable spate of architectural activity as each emperor, Akbar, Jehangir and Shah Jehan tried to outdo the grandiose monuments built by his predecessors. The Taj Mahal, the Agra fort and the abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri, today are all UNESCO World Heritage sites.
