Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Delhi – Free Time to Explore

Welcome to India! On arrival, you will be greeted with a traditional swagat (welcome), marking the beginning of your journey. After settling in, enjoy free time to explore Delhi at your own pace with your group.

Delhi, the historic capital of India, is a vibrant metropolis where centuries-old heritage blends seamlessly with modern life. You may choose to wander through the lively lanes of Chandni Chowk, known for its aromatic spice shops, sweet stalls, and bustling street food vendors. Alternatively, visit Dilli Haat, a cultural hub showcasing handicrafts, regional cuisine, and live music, or explore Janpath Market, famous for its eclectic mix of clothing, jewelry, handicrafts, and artwork.

Day 2: Transfer to Agra by surface – Agra Fort & Mehtab Bagh

After breakfast, travel with a private driver from Delhi to Agra, a city that rose to prominence under the Mughal Empire from the 16th century onward. Under Emperor Akbar, Agra flourished as a center of art, science, commerce, and culture, attracting scholars and artists to its darbars (royal courts) and havelis (traditional mansions).

On arrival, visit the magnificent Agra Fort, whose imposing red sandstone walls enclose a complex of palaces, courtyards, and halls, including the elegant white marble Pearl Mosque. The fort reflects the evolving architectural styles of the Mughal rulers—Akbar’s bold vision, Jahangir’s refinement, and Shah Jahan’s intricate elegance. Explore key highlights such as the Diwan-i-Am, where public audiences were held, the Diwan-i-Khaas for private meetings, and Jodha Bai’s Palace, one of Akbar’s most significant royal residences.

Later, head to Mehtab Bagh (Moonlight Garden) for stunning panoramic views of the Taj Mahal across the Yamuna River, especially beautiful in the soft afternoon light. Continue to Agra Bazaar, where you can meet artisans descended from the craftsmen who helped build the Taj Mahal and witness the continuation of traditional marble inlay work using precious stones.

Day 3: Taj Mahal at Sunrise – I’timād-ud-Daulah Tomb – Food Walk – Overnight Train to Varanasi

Begin the day early with a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal, where you can witness its ethereal marble façade shift in color as the first light of day touches it. Commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, this 17th-century white marble mausoleum took over two decades to complete and was built by more than 20,000 artisans. Beyond its history, the experience of seeing the Taj Mahal in person is truly unforgettable.

After breakfast, continue to explore the Tomb of I’timād-ud-Daulah with your private guide, often considered a precursor to the Taj Mahal. Located along the Yamuna River, this elegant mausoleum is admired for its delicate marble latticework, refined carvings, and intricate pietra dura inlay. Built for Mirzā Ghiyās Beg, grandfather of Mumtaz Mahal, it offers valuable insight into the artistic evolution that culminated in the Taj Mahal.

Later, set out on a guided food walk through the historic lanes of Agra Bazaar. Taste a variety of local specialties, including petha (a traditional sweet made from ash gourd), flavorful chaats, and crispy snacks such as bhallas and papris, all layered with tangy chutneys and aromatic spices.

In the evening our representative pickup you from hotel and proceed to railway station to board an overnight train to Varanasi.

Day 4: Varanasi Walking Tour – Temples – Evening Ganga Aarti

Today, explore Varanasi on foot, one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities and a major spiritual center on the banks of the Ganges. Founded along its sacred ghats, Varanasi draws pilgrims, sadhus, and visitors who come to experience its rituals, spirituality, and timeless atmosphere. Wandering through its narrow alleys offers a vivid glimpse into a way of life that has remained largely unchanged for centuries.

Later, travel with your guide to visit key cultural and religious sites, including Banaras Hindu University and its museum Bharat Kala Bhawan, as well as the revered Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple. If time permits, you may also visit the Durga Temple (Monkey Temple), Tulasi Manas Temple, and Bharat Mata Temple, each holding deep religious and cultural significance.

In the evening, take a rickshaw to Dashashwamedh Ghat to witness the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti ceremony. Performed at sunset by priests accompanied by lamps, bells, drums, and chanting, this powerful ritual on the banks of the Ganges creates an atmosphere of devotion and energy that captures the spiritual essence of Varanasi.

Day 5: Yoga in Varanasi – Sari Weaving – Sarnath Excursion

Begin the day in Varanasi, a renowned center for yoga and spiritual learning, with a guided yoga session. This immersive class offers an introduction to India’s ancient wellness tradition, with instruction in styles such as Hatha, Ashtanga, Kundalini, Bikram, and other contemporary forms. Practicing yoga in this sacred city provides a unique opportunity to connect movement, breath, and mindfulness in an authentic cultural setting.

Later, explore the vibrant traditional markets of Varanasi, where daily life unfolds amid bustling lanes and centuries-old commerce. Visit local silk weaving workshops to learn about the creation of the famed Banarasi saris, a hallmark of Indian craftsmanship. These exquisite garments, often woven with fine silk and embellished with gold and silver brocade, represent one of India’s most celebrated textile traditions. Observe artisans at work and gain insight into the skill and dedication behind each piece.

In the afternoon, travel to Sarnath, one of the most significant Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the world. It is here that Gautama Buddha is believed to have delivered his first sermon in 528 BCE, marking the foundation of Buddhism. During the Mauryan era, Emperor Ashoka developed Sarnath further with monasteries and stupas. Visit Deer Park, the sacred site of Buddha’s first teachings, followed by the Sarnath Museum, which houses important relics, sculptures, and archaeological findings from the region.

Day 6: Return to Delhi – Departure

Today marks the conclusion of your journey through Northern India. Transfer from your hotel to Varanasi Airport for your flight to Delhi. Upon arrival, connect with your onward international flight, carrying with you the memories of a culturally rich and spiritually immersive experience.
