Detailed Itinerary
DAY 01: MUMBAI (ARRIVAL) TO NASHIK
Welcome aboard the Deccan Odyssey. Gather at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus around 16:40 hours for registration and check-in formalities for the Maharashtra Splendor journey. Receive a traditional welcome and enjoy a refreshing welcome drink.

Once check-in is complete, settle in as the train departs Mumbai for Nashik. Dinner is provided onboard, followed by an overnight stay.

DAY 02: NASHIK TO AURANGABAD
The train reaches the sacred city of Nashik in the morning. Begin with breakfast onboard, then disembark to take a walk along the Godavari Ghats and observe various Hindu rituals performed at the ghats.

Explore the lively markets by the river, offering everything from fresh produce and lentils to cow dung cakes and dried seafood.

Next, head to Grover Zampa Vineyards, widely regarded as one of India’s premier wine estates. Tour the vineyards and see Chenin, Chardonnay, and Shiraz grapes. Learn about traditional wine-making methods still used to produce sparkling wines. Sample premium white, red, rose, and sparkling wines, paired with local delicacies.

Return to the Deccan Odyssey in the afternoon as it departs for Aurangabad. Dinner is provided onboard, followed by an overnight stay.

DAY 03: AURANGABAD – ELLORA CAVES
The train arrives in Aurangabad in the morning. After breakfast onboard, disembark for a visit to the Ellora Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a highlight of the region.

Ellora features 34 rock-cut caves representing Buddhist, Jain, and Hindu art from the 4th to 5th centuries AD. To the south are twelve Buddhist caves, the central area hosts seventeen Hindu caves, and five Jain caves are located in the northern section. The Kailash Temple, modeled after Mount Kailash, is the most famous structure here.

Return to the train for lunch, and later relax with cocktails from the onboard bar. The train then departs for Jalgaon to visit the Ajanta Caves. Dinner is provided onboard, followed by an overnight stay.

Day 04: AURANGABAD TO KOLHAPUR
Enjoy breakfast onboard as the train reaches Jalgaon. Disembark and drive to the Ajanta Caves, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. These 30 rock-cut Buddhist caves feature intricate sculptures and vibrant paintings depicting religious stories and daily life.

Lunch is served onboard as the train continues to Kolhapur. Spend the afternoon at leisure with recreational activities onboard such as games, movies, or a spa treatment. In the evening, enjoy dinner and drinks onboard before an overnight stay.

Day 05: KOLHAPUR TO GOA
The train arrives in Kolhapur in the morning. Enjoy breakfast onboard before disembarking for a city tour.

Visit the New Palace Museum, a 19th-century octagonal palace showcasing Kolhapur’s royal heritage. Explore the neo-Gothic Town Hall Museum and stroll through the local markets, where you can shop for handcrafted Kolhapuri chappals.

Have tea in a charming venue and then witness Lavanya Sandhya, a vibrant display of folk art. Visit the Mahalakshmi Temple, dedicated to Goddess Shakti, and watch a traditional martial arts demonstration called ‘Mardani Khel’. Return to the train for dinner as it departs for Goa.

Day 06: GOA TO RATNAGIRI
Arrive in Goa in the morning and enjoy breakfast onboard. Disembark for sightseeing, starting with a tour of Fontainhas, the Latin Quarter of Panjim, featuring well-preserved Portuguese-style houses.

Visit Ribandar, the former capital of Goa, exploring historic churches and the ruins of St. Augustine Tower. Continue to Sahakari Spice Plantation for a traditional Goan lunch influenced by 400 years of Portuguese cuisine, including local seafood and Feni. Enjoy a folk performance and explore an old Portuguese house before returning to the train.
