07 Days – Darjeeling & Sikkim Tour

Overview 

These Trips give the opportunity to explore the most beautiful places in the Himalayas. In the green valley, famous Tea plantation of Darjeeling and Sikkim you can view the sunrise over Mt. Khangchendzonga at Tiger Hill,  Enjoy a ride on a World Heritage-listed toy train, visit the Tibetan Refugees Self-Help, the visit will visit Khecheopalri Lake in pelling, Beautiful monasteries in Sikkim,  you reach Sikkim with the famous tea plantations in Darjeeling. The highlight of the trip is a visit to Bhutan, the land of the thunder dragon with its unique monastery castles (dzongs) and monasteries.

DAY 1: Bagdogra – Darjeeling

Upon arrival at Bagdogra airport, you will be met by your local English-speaking representative and transferred (3 hours) to your Darjeeling hotel.

DAY 2: Darjeeling

Wake up at early morning and straight drive by car to view the sunrise over Mt. Khangchendzonga at Tiger Hill. We will see Ghoom Monastery well-known as Yoga Choling there we will see a five-meter statue of the Maitreya Buddha.

Today we will go for a ride through the hills on the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Toy Train, it is called -Darjeeling Himalayan Railway till Ghoom.

Return to the hotel by car for lunch. After Lunch explore the city of Darjeeling beginning with the Himalayan Mountaineering, the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park where you can see the red panda, the Tibetan wolves, Siberian tiger. Before back to hotel, we will visit the Tibetan Refugees Self-Help Centre, it is a rehabilitation center where you learn a view of how they making Tibetan Carpets,  Wooden work, Paintings.

DAY 3: Darjeeling – Pelling

After breakfast begins the 6-hour drive to Pelling, in the state of Sikkim.

Pelling is a serene mountain village well known for the magnificent views of entire mountain ranges including Mt. Khangchendzonga. This afternoon you will visit Khecheopalri Lake, which Buddhists believe is the emanation of a goddess.

DAY 4: Pelling – Gangtok

This morning you will visit the Pemayangtse Monastery and Rabdentse, Sikkim’s second capital. Nearby are the ruins of Rabdentse, preserved by the Indian Archeological Society. The site of the ruins has an amazing view of the countryside. Continue to Tashiding Monster, which was founded in 1717 by one of the three lamas who brought Buddhism to Sikkim. Next, begin the 7.5-hour drive to Gangtok. Lunch today will be a lunch box provided by your Pelling hotel.Upon arrival in Gangtok proceed to your hotel for check-in.

DAY 5: Gangtok

After breakfast visits the Rumtek and Enchey Monasteries. The Rumtek Monastery was rebuilt in the 1960s and is covered with murals and traditional Tibetan style paintings. Enchey Monastery is located in the woodlands and is approximately 200 years old.  Post Lunch Visit the Sikkim Research Institute of Technology (SRIT), also known as the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology.

Later visit the Do Drul Chorten, a Tibetan pagoda, and the Jhang Chub Chorten, built by the King to commemorate the enlightenment of Lord Buddha.

End the day at the Directorate of Handloom and Handicrafts, which has traditional Sikkimese handicrafts available to purchase.

DAY 6: Gangtok – Kalimpong

Depart Gangtok and drive approximately 3 hours to the hill-station town of Kalimpong, located on the lower ranges of the Himalayas.

Upon arrival in Kalimpong tour the city, beginning with flower nurseries before continuing to the Sang Dog Palri Fo-Brang Monsatry to admire the panoramic views of the town.  Next, you will travel to Tharpa Choling Monastery, founded in 1912 and home to the Yellow Hat, and Thongsa Gumpa, a Bhutanese monastery and the oldest in the region.

DAY 7: Kalimpong – Bagdogra

After check-out of your hotel this morning you will be transferred to Bagdogra airport to connect your onward flights.
